Motlhalo: I am enjoying the journey so far
It has been a great year for South African women’s football in general, one moment that stands out is when Linda Motlhalo, Janine Van Wyk and Thembi Kgatlana all were in the same starting line up. The trio is currently in the books of Houston Dash, in the National Women Soccer League in the USA. One player that has taken the NWSL by storm is Linda Motlhalo, the 20-year-old midfielder has played 15 out of the 18 games that Dash has played this season. The Brandvlei born Motlhalo has also captained the national under 20 team. She joined Houston Dash on a year-long contract from JVW Ladies Club.
“Life in Dash has been a great journey so far and having Thembi and Janine here is making things easier for me. My teammates who are like family to me have also helped me a lot and they have been encouraging me on and off the field.
The Vera Pauuw coached side is currently positioned at number 6 after 18 games with 23 points, they are 23 points adrift from league leaders North Caroline Courage.
“The goal of the team is to finish in the top four and qualify for the playoffs and for me is to be consistent in my game and score some goals for the team”
Next task for Houston Dash is Utah Royals who are placed just below Dash in position 8 with a point separating the two sides.
