Pirates youngster eager to impress whilst on loan in the NFD

National First Division side Cape Umoya United are busy bolstering their squad for the upcoming season. The National First Division season starts on the 18th of August and the Roger De Sa led side open their season against TS Galaxy away from home. The Cape Town-based outfit formerly known as Platinum Starts have roped in a local youngster Yanga Baliso, who has been in the books of Orlando Pirates. Before the midfielder uprooted North to Johannesburg, he was in the books of Ajax Cape Town youth development and was on the verge of making his way to the Urban Warriors first team.

“I know Coach Roger from the time he was the head coach at Ajax before I moved to Pirates he wanted to work with me but at that time I had already made my mind that its time to move on to a new club. I have signed a season-long loan and I’m happy to be working with him”

The Gugulethu born youngster has been a very integral member of the Buccaneers MultiChoice Diski team, he was also playing in the SAB league team that got a promotion to the ABC Motsepe League. This will be Baliso first taste of the National First Division, with a good showing at Umoya for the 21-year-old will also increase his chances of being recalled by the parent club and hopefully go out and represent “The Ghost” in the Absa Premier League.

There were good moments and there were times when I was not happy with myself. It is every player’s dream to represent the Clubs senior team. I hope that next season I will be ready for some PSL action with the senior team. The experience and game time that I will get here, will help me so I can improve my game.

Cape Umoya United will be hoping to bounce back to the elite league in no time, they have played a couple of friendlies with fellow National First Division teams like Ubuntu. Roger De Sa will be eagerly awaiting to see how the 21-year-old midfielder will fare up in the National First Division. the league is known for its character testing and robust type of football being played.

“He is one of the best coaches I have worked with, I’m ready and I believe that being in the National First Division will help me become the player I am supposed to be. My goal is to help the team get automatic promotion or get to the playoffs
