AmaZulu edge out the Citizens at home to make it into the last 8 of the TKO
With a majority of games played over the weekend in the Telkom Knockout, it was left to Amazulu and Cape Town City to fill up the last spot in the last eight. The game started at a slow pace as both sides were a bit sluggish and a few goalscoring chances were created. Siphelele Mthembu was the first one to have a shot at goal but his shot went over the bar.
Ovidy Karuru should have scored for Usuthu but his tame shot was cleared off the line by City’s defence, both sides failed to find the back of the net and they went into halftime locked at 0-0.
Whatever Coach Johnson said in the dressing room was the catalysts for the home side as they came out in the second half guns blazing and they were rewarded by a goal from Tade who calmly finished off a Sikhakhane cross. Three minutes later Ntuli pounced on an error by Mngonyama as he latched on to a loose ball and he toe pocked it in-between Stephens’ legs.
Cape Town City was no threat for Amazulu and the game ended with 2-0 and Amazulu making the quarter-final of the Telkom Knockout.
Quarter Final draw:
