Nelson Mandela Bay stadium to host the 2018 Telkom Knockout Final
The 8th of December 2018 two of these teams (Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Maritzburg United, AmaZulu, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and Baroka FC) will be battling it out for the 4million rand prize in Port Elizabeth, it was announced after the quarter-final draw that the final will be going to the Eastern Cape.
Mis Mato Madlala who is the current acting CEO of the Premier Soccer League said ” In a year when the country celebrates the centenary of Madiba’s life and honours his legacy, it is only fitting that football draws the curtain down at a venue named after the world icon. We have no doubt that this will be a successful Cup final. In our previous two visits to the stadium, we enjoyed great support from the people of the province and surrounding areas. Good luck to all the member Clubs left in the competition.”
This will be the first time that the Telkom Knockout final is played in the windy city and it promises to be a fan-packed cup final.
Braam Wessels who is Head of Sponsorship from Telkom also added a few words on the decision to select Nelson Mandela Bay to host the final ” When we announced the fixtures a couple of weeks ago, fans were already guessing and anticipating on where the venue of the cup final would be. I believe there’s no better place than Nelson Mandela Bay, in the friendly city itself. We’re excited and looking forward to filling up the stadium with our proud soccer fans and enjoying the friendly game with TKO2018 Cup Final” he added
