I don’t think Ajax were candidates for relegation – Irvin Khoza
The Chairman of the Premier Soccer League graced the premises of National First Division side Ajax Cape Town, where he officially opened the Ajax Lambda Institute. This project launched by the urban warriors seeks to prepare kids and ensure that they are able to compete at the international level. His visit to Ikamva came after Ajax Cape Town and the Premier Soccer League reached an agreement of the Tendai Ndoro Saga.
It was just an unfortunate circumstance of issues that happened, which denied the Parow based side their spot in the Premier Soccer League, and that I don’t think they were candidates for relegation.
The NFD outfit lost out on their spot in the 2017/18 promotion and relegation after being found guilty for playing Tendai Ndoro who was deemed ineligible to play as he was not properly registered.
Dr. Khoza said that Ajax is a well organized, well-run team with quality players as you might have seen with the number of clubs that lined up to snatch their players after that unfortunate incident. they are a team with a special feature in South African football, you can’t erase that.
After a long court battle, Ajax ended up taking their spot in the NFD which was for the first time since their inception in 1999.
It happens to everybody in life that you get challenges that are beyond your control, you say that you are doing the right thing but the right thing is not good enough, so we hope that they can bounce back.
