Gumede is happy to get another chance.
Former Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City and AmaZulu defender Tsepo Gumede has resurfaced with GladAfrica Championship side Cape Umoya United. The 29-year-old has joined Roger De Sa’s side on a one year deal and will be hoping to help his side to promotion at the end of the season. He spent some time with us speaking about his return to the game.
“It’s a good feeling and also a welcomed chance to get back in the game and build to the level I know I can play while passing on a bit of knowledge I think I have to the people around me”.
Cape Umoya United are currently occupying position five with eleven points, one game in hand and a point adrift from the log leaders.
” Well everyone in the GladAfrica aims for the championship we are no different to the other teams but first things first it’s to get points to avoid relegation then challenge for the top three spots. It’s a league that is tricky and very competitive I feel playing in it is a challenge also it hasn’t really changed from the time I played in it years back”.
The Milnerton based side has made a couple of great signings like Mark Mayambela, Micheal Morton, Eleazor Rodgers just to name a few players who joined to beef up the squad.
” I feel we have a more than decent squad to be challenging for the title so hopefully we get our mojo going and win it if not be in a playoff position”.
