Mashau relishing the European dream.

Happy Mashau currently plays in Kosovo for KF Trepca 89, he joined the side after leaving Royal Eagles who were relegated from the Glad Africa Championship. The 28-year old made a name of himself when he was on the books of Maritzburg United.

I’m happy to be here at Fk Trepca 89, I was welcomed very well here by the players, management and the people of the city. The deal came up with my agent Lebo Mashishi and his partner Kenneth Yamongbe who contacted me during the Bio-bubble with an opportunity of a lifetime. I’m here now and loving it. Leaving South Africa wasn’t an easy decision to make because I have a family we had to sit down together and talk about it. I explained to them that they have to look at this in the bigger picture and future because in the Country at that time a lot was happening which I can’t mention here, hence I moved and nowhere in Europe, things are very much different

The Kriel born defender got the lifeline to go to Europe through the help of Lebo Mashishi, the agent has been very vital in making sure a few players from the country make it outside our shores especially the ladies.

“It was very difficult to play there but at least it was an opportunity to market my talent. I was playing without an income, there was nothing to send to my family it was a very hard time in my career. I had offers in South Africa but hearing that there’s an offer for me in Europe, I had to grab it with both hands, it’s a dream come true. It’s every footballer’s wish in Africa to go and play in Europe”.

“The league is very competitive here I don’t want to lie, very tactical, it’s something I’m not used to but personally it has helped me to improve a lot both as a player and as a human being.
Being in a foreign country is not easy at all but I got a lot of help from my teammates, my agent and Mr Kenneth and above all the management has been very great in making my life simple on and off the field. I’m not planning to come back to South Africa anytime soon I’m much closer to my dream and the big leagues when I’m here than back home in South Africa”
